Frequently asked questions
How do I add a drink? Tap Scan and point your camera at the barcode. If we know it, its details appear. If not, fill in the details once, and it's added to the catalog for everyone.
The barcode wasn't found. Some drinks, especially local or imported ones, aren't in any database yet. Add it yourself, and you'll be the first to put it on the map.
How do passport stamps and the world map work? Each tasting counts toward the drink's country of origin. Log drinks from new countries and continents to light up your map and earn stamps. Not sure where to go next? Home → New Countries suggests a drink from somewhere you haven't been.
Who can see my tastings? Only you — unless you join Community. There, the people who follow you see your map, stamps and badges, plus the tastings you share. New tastings are shared by default; switch off Share with followers on any tasting to keep it to yourself. Beverages you add to the catalog (name, producer, country, product photo) are shared with everyone, without your name.
How do I find and follow friends? Community → Friends, then search for their name or @username. Your own @username is shown at the top of the Friends tab — send it to friends so they can find you.
What's the difference between a private and a public account? Private (the default): people ask to follow you and you approve each request. Public: anyone can follow you without asking. Change it any time with the Private switch in Community → Friends.
What is "Compare passports"? Open a friend's page to see both your maps on one: countries you've both been to, only you, or only them — and tap one of theirs to find a drink from there.
How do trips work? Map → Trips → Plan a trip: name it, add up to 10 countries, and you get a list of drinks to try in each one. Drinks tick themselves when you log a matching tasting; tick anything else (a cocktail at a bar, say) by hand. Trips are private — only you see them.
Where do the food pairings and trip drink lists come from? They're written by AI (Claude, by Anthropic) from the drink's details or the country's name only — nothing about you is sent. Each list is made once and then shared, so everyone sees the same suggestions. AI can get things wrong: check labels and local laws, and enjoy responsibly.
How do I share my passport? Map → Share my passport. You get a picture of your map, countries, flags and stamps (no name, notes or photos) to post or send anywhere.
Someone is bothering me or posted something inappropriate. Tap ⋯ on the post or on their page and choose Report or Block. Blocking works immediately: you stop following each other and can't find or see each other. They aren't told. We review every report and remove content that breaks our Community Rules (Profile → Community Rules).
How do I unblock someone? Community → Friends → scroll to Blocked → Unblock.
I forgot my password. On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? and we'll email you a link to set a new one.
How do I delete my account? Profile → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, journal, photos, badges, username, follows and Cheers. It can't be undone.
Why do I have to confirm my age? Passport Pours is only for adults of legal drinking age where they live (never under 18; 21+ in the US).
